Update from Mrs. Hilliard, School Nurse

This week, Dr. Brand sent an email regarding the recent Department of Elementary and Secondary Education changes to COVID-19 protocols. We encourage our families to read this important information and continue to have constant communication with our school nurse, Laura Hilliard regarding any health questions or concerns. In addition, we kindly ask that if any individual within your household tests positive for COVID that you contact her before sending your child to school. She can be contacted directly at 978-694-6026 or emailed at Laura.hilliard@wpsk12.com

Message from Mrs. Williams, School Adjustment Counselor

Happy New Year! Last month our classroom lessons focused on identifying different feelings through facial expressions and situational cues. This month we will be learning how to name and manage big feelings such as anger and fear. We encourage families to also practice emotional regulation strategies with students at home such as naming the feeling, asking for help, and using belly breaths. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please reach out to our School Adjustment Counselor, Mrs. Williams, either by email at Kristen.williams@wpsk12.com or by phone at (978) 694-6070 ext. 7007.

Picture Re-Take Day – January 12th

If your child was absent or you would like to have their photo retaken, please have them bring their smile to school on Wednesday, January 12! Online ordering is available at www.mylifetouch.com. If your child is having their pictures retaken, please return the photo package you received.

Early Release Day – January 26th

On Wednesday, January 26th all students will be dismissed at 10:15 am. There will be no PM preschool sessions.

If your child will be absent from school, please call the main office at 978-694-6070 and choose option 1. When you leave a message, please be sure to include the room number and the reason for your child’s absence. Remember, your child needs to be symptom-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before they return to school after an illness.

Handicap Parking & No Idling Reminder

Parking in the first four parking spots is strictly reserved for handicapped vehicles only. Do not park in these spots without proper identification. Also, when dropping off or picking up your child, please be sure to park in marked parking spots and turn off your engines to reduce the amount of unnecessary air pollution near our building. Thank you!

Weather Advisories

Information will be available on the Wilmington Public School website, Twitter, and local news outlets if inclement weather causes any disruption to our regularly scheduled school day. In addition, families will receive an automated telephone call. If there is a delayed opening, all AM preschool sessions are canceled. If your child attends the full-day preschool program, they would attend the PM session beginning at 11:05 am.

Aspen Updates & Emergency Cards

Now that the New Year is upon us, please make sure to update your child’s contact information in Aspen. We must have the most current information available to ensure your child’s safety in the event of an emergency.

Outdoor Attire & Extra Change of Clothing

We go outside frequently throughout the day so please have your child wear a warm winter jacket, hat, and mittens/gloves. Please make sure to label their clothing as well. Also, please update your child’s extra change of clothing for accidents. Please send them in a Ziplock bag with their name.

Thank You

I would like to thank all the students for creating kindness cards and holiday wishes for our first responders. They put a lot of smiles on the faces of our friends at the Wilmington Public Safety building.

January Challenge

This month students will be learning about responsibility, self-care, and making good choices. Throughout the month, we will participate in fun activities to strengthen our physical, social, and emotional health.

Wilmington Educational Foundation Clothing Bin
