Student Belongings

If you were unable to pick up your child's belongings last week, I will be available tomorrow, Thursday, June 11th from 8-10am for you to stop by the Boutwell to retrieve these items. Your child's belongings are bagged and ready for pickup at the front door. Parents/guardians will not be permitted to enter the building. If you have to return any library books, please place them in the white mailbox outside the front door. This will be the last day for parents/guardians to collect their child's belongings. After June 11th, clothing will be donated and items will be discarded.

Report Cards and Next Year Teacher Assignment

On Tuesday, June 23rd, parents and guardians will receive instructions on how to access their child's final report card in Aspen. Student progress from Trimester 3, along with student participation and work completed during the Remote Learning Period, will be communicated to parents/guardians at the end of the 2019-2020 academic year in the form of comments entered by teachers into the comment box of the standards-based report card. These comments will take the place of the standards ratings typically entered.

As a reminder, next year's teacher will not be listed on the final report card. This will be the practice moving forward for the Wilmington Public Schools from the Early Childhood Centers, Elementary and Intermediate Schools. In early August, parents and guardians will receive an email with instructions to access classroom teacher information in Aspen.

New Parent Notification System

We are excited to share with you the plans that are currently underway to transition our current school and district websites to a new platform. Our current sites are out-of-date and truly need to fresh start. However, as part of this transition taking place July 1 we are also moving to a new parent notification system called School Messenger which will replace our current Blackboard Connect 5 System and will be used to send staff and parents bulk emails, automated phone calls, text messages and attendance notifications. The new system requires you to opt-in to receive text messages. Please use the instructions below to opt-in on your cell phone to enable receiving text messages. Don't miss out on important messages - opt in to text messaging today and I will assure you that we will not overuse the text option of connecting with you.

Step I: Send “Y” or “Yes” to 67587

AND

Step II: Make sure your cell phone number is listed as Phone01 or Phone02 for either the Emergency Priority 1 or the Emergency Priority 2 contact in your Aspen contact record

A Message from the Wilmington Public Library

The Wilmington Public Library will be having a mostly virtual summer reading program this summer. Details will be forthcoming and our students are encouraged to participate. In addition, “Reading to Thor”, their read to a dog program will be remote this summer as well. The first session is scheduled for Monday, June 22nd. Please visit their website at wilmlibrary.org to sign up for a 15 minute slot.

Thank You from Mrs. Walsh

I cannot believe the end of the year is quickly approaching. It seems like yesterday we were meeting for the first time at parent orientation. I want to thank you all for the support and generosity you have shown throughout the school year. The Boutwell School community is truly unique because of the collaboration between the students, parents, teachers, staff and administration. Together, we have had many successes and our students have acquired the skills needed to become lifelong learners. In addition, I would like to thank all the staff and recognize their hard work, dedication and willingness to go above and beyond for our students. I wish you all a wonderful summer!
