Weather Advisories:
Information will be available on the Wilmington Public School website, Twitter and local news outlets if inclement weather causes any disruption to our regular scheduled school day. In addition, families will receive an automated telephone call. If there is a delayed opening, all AM sessions are cancelled. If your child attends the full day preschool program, they would attend the PM session beginning at 11:15am.
Communication with Mrs. Hilliard, School Nurse
Communication with the school nurse is imperative as we continue to encounter the challenges of COVID and navigate through the winter months. If anyone in your home is symptomatic or awaiting test results, it is strongly encouraged you do not send your child to school. Also, with February vacation on the horizon, the Massachusetts travel advisory is still in effect. If traveling outside Massachusetts, individuals must quarantine for ten days or produce a negative COVID-19 test result that has been administered up to 72- hours prior to arrival in Massachusetts. If you have any questions or need to speak with Mrs. Hilliard regarding your child’s health, please call the health office directly at 978-694-6026 or email her at [email protected].
Tardy and Absenteeism
If your child will be absent from school, please call the main office at 978-694-6070 and choose option 1. When you leave a message, please be sure to include the room number and the reason for your child’s absence. Remember, your child needs to be symptom free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication before they return to school after an illness. Any child that arrives after 8am in the AM session or 11:15am in the PM session, is considered tardy. Parents/guardians must bring their child to the front door to be signed in to enter the building.
February 10, 2021 – Kindergarten Parent/Teacher Conferences
On Wednesday, February 10, 2021 Kindergarten students will participate in a remote learning day in a combined AM/PM session during the AM hours of 8-10:30am. There will be no in-person learning on this day for Kindergarten students. All preschool students will follow their regular in-person schedules.
Winter Clothing
I would like to remind families to have their child wear a warm winter jacket, hat and mittens/gloves. We go outside throughout the day when temperatures cooperate and we want students to stay warm. Please make sure to label their clothing as well.
Classroom Valentine’s Day Celebrations
In light of the pandemic, the sharing of valentines in classrooms will not be permitted this year. Many teachers have planned special activities and created alternative ways to celebrate the holiday. If you have specific questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
Preschool and Kindergarten Registration
Preschool and Kindergarten registration will take place Monday, March 29th – Wednesday, April 7th. Information about the registration process and the required documents will be posted on the district website as soon details are finalized. Please visit the website frequently at www.wpsk12.com.
February Community Project – Kindness Cards
This month our students will be learning about honesty, kindness, and trustworthiness. Our students will create kindness cards for our senior citizens. Our cards will be delivered to the Wilmington Senior Citizen Center at the end of the month.
Wilmington Educational Foundation Clothing Bin
If you have clothing, shoes, stuffed animals, etc. you would like to donate, you may place them in the WEF clothing and shoe bin located at the driveway of the school. Please make sure your donations are in bags. For every ton, the WEF will receive $100 that will support educational opportunities for all students.
Parent Advisory Council
